Immediate Past President Amicia Ramsey
Amicia Ramsey is an accomplished businesswoman and television journalist, with a decade of experience in the industry. She currently works as a morning news reporter at WISH TV, News Channel 8 in Indianapolis. She has worked in various cities across the United States, including Mississippi, Fresno, California, and Memphis, Tennessee, in her pursuit of a successful career in television broadcasting.
Throughout her professional journey, Amicia has garnered several notable accomplishments. She received the National Alliance on Mental Health: Media & Public Awareness Award in 2022, for her extensive coverage highlighting the mental health of black Hoosiers and the related stigma. In addition, she was awarded first place in breaking news by the Associated Press and was named the 2017 Best TV Personality by the Meridian Star ‘Readers Choice’.
Amicia was born in St. Louis but was raised in O'Fallon, Illinois, where both her parents serve as pastors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in communications, journalism, and black studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During her college years, she maintained internships in highly competitive news markets in St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Jacksonville, Florida.
Apart from her passion for journalism, Amicia also enjoys mentoring youth and volunteering in her community. She firmly believes that her purpose in life is to elevate and uplift others, which is reflected in her work and personal life. She attributes her success to her faith, hard work, and her philosophy of treating people with respect, compassion, and dignity.
